“Having worked with vulnerable children, young people and adults for most of my career, I have been lucky enough to work with the most gifted professionals and supported the most amazing people, many of whom have faced extreme difficulties. I created Companion Media Publishing to provide resources that promote emotional resilience, support healing from trauma and help to form strong family bonds. We want our books and programmes to support you, children, teenagers and the people in your care. All our products are written and developed with the aim of helping people become the person they are meant to be.”
Our Founder
Ronnie Rowbotham
Ronnie Rowbotham has worked as a youth worker, outreach support worker for Barnardo’s, a teacher and is also a qualified counsellor. He also fostered teenagers with offending backgrounds before becoming a parent himself. Ronnie has also worked in prisons and supported those in addiction.
His first book, Strumbie Island, was written to help young children understand emotions and help to develop their social skills. The publishers loved it and suggested developing into an animated programme. Ronnie spent the next year writing the screen play, developing characters and writing curriculum tie-ins. The result was an award nominated programme that children loved and won international acclaim.
Unhappy with the ‘business’ of publishing he decided to launch his own materials and quickly wrote and produced Melody Castle, an interactive animated programme that teaches vital skills through story telling and music. The programme was an instant hit in schools, especially with students who struggled to engage in learning. It’s now available as an App on the Google Play Store.
From then Ronnie never looked back producing ‘Kirabo’ , ‘There’s a Tiger on my Bed’ and the ‘Luvlou’ series. For the first time he has brought his programmes and books under one heading-Companion Media Publishing. A unique and specialist publisher that has children’s emotional health and happiness at its heart.
