Companion Media Publishing
Having published my first book with a publishing company I hoped for great things. It even won awards-but I was badly let down by the ‘business’ of publishing. I decided to created my own publishing company, where I could promote my books and resources and celebrate great stories-one that have the potential to change lives.
The word ‘companion’ means someone who walks with us, sharing our journey.
Having worked with vulnerable children, young people and adults for most of my career, I have written and developed books and resources to promote emotional resilience, social skills and to support healing.
I also love the dark and supernatural. In January I will be publishing book one of a new YA supernatural trilogy, The Dimension Wars. I hope book one, ‘Die-Mension’, will scare the pants off readers in a fun way.
Meet the author
Ronnie Rowbotham
Having been ordained and served for many years as a Roman Catholic Priest, I was forced to take time away because of ill health. I qualified as a teacher and counsellor and began working as a youth support worker for Barnardo’s. As part of a new project they were running I began offering a home to teenagers with offending backgrounds; supporting them into independent living. It was such a rewarding experience that I began working with those who were homeless and people with addiction before returning to ministry and becoming a prison chaplain and then a hospital chaplain.
I wrote my first book, Strumbie Island, while I was at Barnardo’s, to help young children understand emotions and help to develop their social skills. The publishers loved it and suggested developing into an animated programme. I spent the next year writing the screen play, developing characters and writing curriculum tie-ins. The result was an award nominated programme that children loved and won international acclaim. You can download it for free from the shop.
